Mayor
Probably the most influential voting topic is for who you think the mayor should be. Whoever in your town has the most people voting for them, will earn this role, though that is not the only thing this affects.

Start New Town
If a person has 20 or more people voting for them for Mayor then they have the option to start a voting topic under them, to start a new town or not. If 15 or more people vote "yes" then they all get up and move to a new loaction, with that person assuming the role of Mayor. Movers give up any or all slots they have in the local market.
